The collection of Hadiths of Imam An-Nawawi "Riyad-as-Salihin" is one of the most famous and beloved books in the Muslim world. This is not surprising, since, on the one hand, it contains a part of the Sunnah of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and greet him, which is the second most important after the Koran, the basis of the doctrine of Islam, on the other hand, it was compiled by the most authoritative scientist, all his life dedicated to the service of Islam. Another surprise causes: why did this particular book acquire such popularity, although many other collections of Hadith are known, compiled by no less authoritative persons? In my opinion, the reason is the very successful arrangement of the material, distributed according to the thematic principle (musannaf) and the equally successful choice of hadiths for each of the three hundred seventy two chapters of the collection.

I would like to note the importance of this book, as well as the importance of getting acquainted with the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless and greet him, in general. Without having at least a minimal knowledge of the Sunnah, which are hadiths, it is absolutely impossible to understand what Islam is, just as it is impossible to understand the people professing this religion. Thus, it is clear that for Muslims knowledge of the Sunnah is simply mandatory, as for other people, ignorance of the most important component of one of the world religions does not decorate them, to put it mildly.

The first complete translation of "Riyad al-Salihin" into Russian is offered to the attention of the reader, with the exception of those comments by Imam Al-Nawawi that relate to Arabic grammar, spelling and other things that are understandable only to those who speak Arabic. Other comments are either translated in full, or their content is reflected in the corresponding notes, which is done for the convenience of using the book.
