ITBN 2022

When we looked for this feeling at the end of last year for the watchword of the 2022 ITBN, the English term "exposed" immediately came to mind. But we felt it was not enough. This is how the motto of this year's ITBN became one concise word: "Overexposed". That is, "Overly Exposed" or "Totally Exposed".

Organizations, businesses and individuals are vulnerable
- for hackers,
- the mistakes of their own colleagues,
- used devices, software and their manufacturers,
- for those working in the supply chain and their vulnerabilities,
- incidents, ransomware, data loss,
- the uncertainty of the future (Covid, inflation, supply problems).

When we told you this on a radio show in January, we didn't know that the growing waves of ransomware, data theft and payload attacks would be superseded by a much bigger threat. The Ukrainian-Russian cyber war.

The cyber conflict which
⁃ mobilized hundreds of thousands of cyber-partisans,
⁃ overrode the rule books,
⁃ knocked down the nimbus of unassailable infrastructures, organizations and
⁃ weakened the already ailing logic of deterrence in cyberspace.

This is also symbolized by our face this year, whose figures we cannot decide whether they are with us or against us, the workers and managers of the cybercriminals or the victims.

More than a hundred thousand new businesses are started every day in the world, and hundreds of them in Hungary. These new players in the cyber world are entering an uncertain and chaotic world. It is from this world that we must create predictable foundations, and from this world cyber defense must be reborn.

We, those working in cyber security, therefore have a new responsibility. Creating peace and stability. It is the confirmation, even the certainty, of the faith in us that we can protect the data assets, the organization, the business, the family, the person. That we are worthy of the trust placed in us.
