Radio Comunitaria Barriletes

Radio Comunitaria Barriletes is a station that was born as a result of a community communication process (open radios, communication spaces, radio workshops, etc.) that began with the editorial project of Revista Barriletes in Paraná, Entre Ríos.

Radio Barriletes went on the air for the first time on March 29, 2010 with a small power transmitter, handcrafted by a colleague from our Civil Association in a training workshop provided by the RNMA (National Alternative Media Network), in February 2010. From then on, the air was built by putting the body, learning along the way, relying on the dream of building a community environment. The basis of our political position is to understand communication as a tool for empowering community processes, linked to events and ruptures that lead to social, cultural, identity and historical transformation. Conceiving community radio as a sound beacon that is instituted from resistance to the storm of the commercial monopolization of communication, is that we articulate with various actors, institutions and groups of our community.

Radio Barriletes is a free radio station: our station is broadcast over the air and on the internet entirely from free software under the Linux system, adhering to the ideological principles of the world community of Free Radios. Since 2015 we have an equipment that allows us to have a greater range and air quality, broadcasting from the headquarters of the civil association, in the central neighborhood of the city. That year, in addition, we were winners of the contest of the Competitive Development Fund for Audiovisual Media of the AFSCA, in the line of Community Media Management. Since 2016, we are members of the Argentine Forum of Community Radios (FARCO). Radio Barriletes is built collectively and democratically from the Barriletes Civil Association, with the paradigm of communication as a human right.
