  • Just cut all frequencies above 20 kHz-ish to get rid of excess highs that you can't even hear. This is called adding a low-pass filter. Once you've done that, just tweak the points until those cymbals are just how you like them. Remember, even if you're just learning how to EQ, trust your ear!
  • The “Perfect” EQ Settings: Unmasking the EQ. 32 Hz: This is the lowest frequency selection on the EQ. ... 64 Hz: This second bass frequency starts to become audible on decent speakers or subwoofers. ... 125 Hz: Many small speakers, such as in your laptop, can just about handle this frequency for bass information.
  • Right-click your headphones and select “Properties” to start modifying them. In the next window that loads, click the “Enhancement” tab, then click the box next to “Bass Boost” on the next page. Clicking this will make lower bass frequencies sound more powerful through your headphones.
  • Can equalizer ruin headphones? At normal listening levels, using an equalizer will not damage a headphone. However, when the audio you are playing through the headphones is extremely loud and is near exceeding the headphone's loudness limit, an equalizer boost can possibly cause damage to the headphones.
  • Bass: 60 – 250 Hz. Lower midrange: 250 – 500 Hz. Midrange: 500 – 2 kHz. Higher midrange: 2 – 4 kHz.
  • However, if you like your headphone's signature sound, you should not EQ them. There is no problem with EQing headphones. As long as you like the sound you get from your headphones by using EQ, you're good to go. And if you're totally against using EQ also, that is also perfectly fine.
